Liam Payne died after falling from the balcony of the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina on October 16.
Police have cordoned off the scene at the hotel following the tragic death of former One Direction member Liam Payne.
Pablo Policicchio, a spokesman for the Buenos Aires Department of Security, said Payne “fell from his balcony” and was seriously injured.
Medical staff pronounced the singer dead at the scene at around 5pm local time. The scene in the Palermo neighbourhood was cordoned off, while crowds continued to gather nearby.
Local police were earlier called to the hotel following reports of “an aggressive man who may have been under the influence of drugs or alcohol”.
The man reportedly smashed his laptop, acted erratically, and was escorted back to his room, sources said.
The hotel manager told police: ” He’s destroying the whole room and we need the police to send someone, please.”
The manager later reported hearing a loud noise behind the building. When police arrived, they found Payne’s body lying on the hotel’s exterior porch, apparently having fallen from a balcony.
The incident comes amid a scandal surrounding Payne’s personal life. His fiancée, Maya Henry, said the singer left her after asking her to have an abortion. Maya’s lawyers are preparing a letter to stop him from contacting her.
The circumstances surrounding Payne’s death remain under investigation.
