The issues reportedly began around 7 PM ET, with user reports on platforms like Downdetector starting approximately an hour earlier, peaking at nearly 70,000 reports. Sony has acknowledged the problem and is working to resolve it “as soon as possible.” However, as of now, there is no official statement regarding the cause of the outage or an estimated time for service restoration.

This outage has led to widespread discussions among users, with a Reddit thread about the incident garnering over 1,600 comments. Some users have reported being unable to load purchased digital games or view their friends, trophies, or online status on their PlayStation 5 consoles.

It’s worth noting that this is not the first time PSN has faced such issues; there was an eight-hour outage in October 2024 and a partial one in May 2024. Sony has yet to provide further details on the current situation.
